Scott Berg has been sailing, racing and cruising for the past 50 years and has experience on a range of power and sailing vessels from an El Toro Pram to a 135′ Baltic Trader. Scott operated Chardonnay Boatworks, a full-service marine electrical and systems company for 34 years before selling to his partners in order to focus on marine surveying and consulting. He enjoys sharing his decades of experience in the evaluation and repair of sail and power boats of all sizes with his classes.
Scott is a Commodore and past president of the Seven Seas Cruising Association (SSCA) as well as a member the Ocean Cruising Club (OCC), the Capital Yacht Club, the American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC), and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). A graduate of the Chapman School of Seamanship as both a Surveyor and Professional Mariner, he is an active member of the USCG GDMSS Task Force and is an operator of FCC Licensed Public and Private Coast Stations. He holds a USCG 100T Masters license, a Marine Radio Operators Permit, an Amateur Extra Ham License (Call Sign WAØLSS), and a Marine Coast Station License (Call Sign KCQ); when not sailing aboard his 60’ Seaton Ketch, CHARDONNAY, he lives in Baltimore, MD.
