Kerry Gonzalez often reminds people that insurance is ‘not your friend’, ‘not a good neighbor’ and does not put you ‘in good hands’; it is a two-sided contract that she can simplify for anyone to understand who will take the time to read the FINE PRINT. She consistently reminds buyers of caveat emptor; insurance is like a parachute – if it is not there the first time you try to open it, chances are you won’t be needing it again. Recently, she reviewed a boat insurance policy that was in force … it indicated it did not cover locations in the water, adverse weather, ‘anything’ without a new rigging receipt, most theft, the owners as operators (there were no other operators) and a slew of normal boat components! As Kerry’s educational background is an ironic combination of insurance, law and international ministries, entrepreneurial servitude is the foundation of the seminars she leads.
