Full-time cruisers and USCG Masters with over 40,000 ocean miles including the Galapagos, Mexico, Alaska, Hawai’i, and Easter Island, Julie and Gio Cappelli lead hands-on offshore sail training expeditions around the world, in partnership with John Neal. When not at sea, they teach cruising skills classes and workshops to help aspiring sailors prepare for safe, comfortable, and self-sufficient voyaging on their own boats. Both are ABYC and NMEA certified and graduates of SVC’s Marine Maintenance Technology program, bringing a combination of technical expertise and real-world offshore experience. From passage planning and vessel systems to galley management and at-sea repairs, Gio and Julie draw on years of practical knowledge to help cruisers gain the confidence and skills needed to thrive on extended voyages.

Julie is ABYC certified in Marine Electrical, Yamaha ITOS certified, a NMEA certified Electronics & Advanced NMEA2000 Installer, and a USCG licensed Master with sailing endorsement. Marine Electrical Technician Certificate from Skagit Valley College. BS and MS degrees in Marine Biology. National Geographic Certified Field Educator.
