Enjoying the Florida Keys by Boat

This presentation is geared for cruiser’s desiring some general and practical knowledge needed to safely explore the beautiful Florida Keys and it’s signature coral barrier reef, third largest in the world and only one in N. America.  There will be some discussion of the cultural and natural history of the Keys.  Examples will be given of the approaches to the Florida Keys from the East or West coast of Florida to the Dry Tortugas or Key Biscayne.  Since this area comprises the second largest marine sanctuary in the US, some discussion of government regulations concerning discharge, anchoring, fishing, etc. will be given.  Locations for some of the best diving, fishing, shoreside entertainment, historical sites and boat yards will be identified through out the Keys.
